Closing the Opportunity gap
Silicon Valley faces many increasing divides, including the economic one. Of the many implications of this divide, is the opportunity gap, in which low-income youth generally don't receive access to the same enrichment and extracurricular opportunities as their higher-income peers. This is absolutely unfair, right? And it doesn't need to be this way.
That's where YOLM comes in-- the Youth Opportunity Leadership & Mentoring program.
Leadership & mentoring
We believe that youth have a perspective that we all need to see and that the voices of our young people, particularly underrepresented ones, need to be elevated. The YOLM program provides the leadership and facilitation training through our Woke Teens program, and now, youth have the option to participate in a 4-6 month-long PAID summer internship experience working with the Be The Change Collective team throughout our range of summer programs in the community.
Yes, we believe in your capacity to commit and to get things done when you are connected to what you are doing and with whom you are working. Here's the deal:
- 8-hours per week of internship (includes 1x/week with mentor)
- 4-month commitment, with the option to extend 2 more months.
Are you a young person between the ages of 13-21 who wants to get involved in the YOLM internship and mentorship program? Apply here.
Are you a community member who wants to build a meaningful relationship with a young person in our program, and can make a 2-hour per week commitment for at least 4-months? Contact us below:
